Dr. Rocío Aracil

Ever since she was a child, she always knew that her future was in medicine, with a strong determination to help others. Her interest in gynaecology came as a teenager, driven by the desire to accompany women at every stage of their lives. However, it was the experience of becoming a mother that led her to specialise in fertility, convinced that there was nothing more rewarding than helping others to fulfil their dream of starting a family.

Dr Rocío Aracil is particularly interested in fertility preservation as well as the special contact she maintains with donors and recipients in gamete donation treatments.

It is alarming that due to social reasons the age of parenthood is being pushed back ever further.”

Learn more about me

When as a child I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said that I wanted to be a doctor; to help others. My vocation for gynaecology came later on, when I was a teenager. I was determined to help women in a comprehensive manner, throughout all stages of their lives. As for specialising in fertility, after becoming a mother, I knew that professionally few things would be more rewarding than accompanying patients who, for various reasons, needed help to become mothers themselves. From that moment onwards, I have focused on being able to assist them professionally.

Without a doubt, I would stress what I consider to be its two cornerstones: on the one hand, its staff, who are who are outstanding on a professional level, but even more so on a human one; and on the other, the fact that Tambre is at the very forefront of fertility treatments, supported by the excellent work carried out in the laboratory.

Fertility preservation, which entails deciding to postpone motherhood without having to give up on it with one’s own gametes. I would also highlight gamete donation treatments. I admire both donors and recipients very much, it is truly special to interact with both parties.

Of course I do, it was after an artificial insemination treatment during my specialisation in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Gregorio Marañón Hospital. I haven’t got used to them; I don’t think I ever will. When I receive the result of a positive pregnancy, I am inevitably moved by the outcome; I really empathise with my patients.

We still have many challenges in Reproductive Medicine, but perhaps one that particularly worries me (because measures could be implemented to avoid it) is that for social reasons, the age of parenthood is increasingly being pushed back.

The fact that at such a difficult and vulnerable time in their lives, when they have difficulty conceiving, they rely on me to help them and accompany them until they achieve their goal.

It is difficult. As I try to treat patients as I would want to be treated myself if I were in a similar situation, empathising and 24/7 thinking about the best course of action in each individual situation is unavoidable.

Without a doubt, spend time with my family.
