Why freeze your eggs?
One of the main reasons why there are more and more women with fertility problems is because we delay the moment of motherhood.
Certain professional, economic or medical circumstances, as well as the simple fact of fulfilling our own dreams can delay this important decision. But we must bear in mind that this delay means a reduction in the number and quality of oocytes and with this, the chances of having children with our own genes can also be reduced.
Oocyte vitrification is an option to preserve fertility while there is still an adequate oocyte reserve, preferably before the age of 35, although there is no age limit for freezing oocytes.
In this way, despite the passage of time, the eggs retain the same quality as when they were frozen, which makes it possible for pregnancy rates to be similar to those obtained with fresh eggs.
What is egg vitrification?
Egg vitrification is a technique that allows eggs to be frozen for future use.
During the procedure, eggs are removed from the ovaries, prepared and then frozen at very low temperatures in a process called vitrification, a rapid form of freezing that prevents the formation of ice crystals that could damage the eggs in the thawing process.
It is most advisable to vitrify the oocytes when the patient is young and has no fertility problems.
In which cases is vitrification of oocytes suitable?
Delaying childbearing
If it is not the right time to become a mother, it is possible to preserve fertility and delay childbearing for the future.
Medical reasons
For medical or surgical reasons, or prior to chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment, which may affect fertility.
Patients with endometriosis
Since endometriosis can affect the ovaries, it is advisable to freeze the eggs before it affects the ovarian reserve.
Low ovarian reserve
The vitrification of eggs obtained in different ovarian stimulation cycles allows them to be accumulated in order to carry out IVF with a greater chance of success.
Ethical or moral reasons
When, for ethical or moral reasons, it is not desirable to freeze the embryos from IVF, it may be preferable to freeze the eggs.

On your first visit to Tambre, the medical team will carry out a fertility study to assess and determine whether egg freezing is right for you.
On day 2 or 3 from the onset of your period, we perform a basal ultrasound scan to confirm the right time to start hormone treatment.
To stimulate the maturation of several ovarian follicles and to obtain the highest possible number of mature eggs, you will have to follow a personalised hormonal treatment for 10-12 days.
During the 10 days of hormonal treatment we carry out ultrasound checks every 2 or 3 days, this allows us to check the follicular growth and schedule the best moment to obtain the eggs.
When the ultrasound shows us that several ovarian follicles have achieve optimal development, it is time to trigger ovulation. This is done with an injection of hCG hormone or GnRH agonist analogue and, 36 hours later, the follicular puncture will be scheduled to obtain the eggs.
This process consists of aspiration of the follicular fluid in which the eggs are found. A needle is inserted vaginally under sedation and guided by ultrasound without any discomfort.
Our specialists select the best quality mature eggs for cryopreservation.
At Tambre we use Cryotop vitrification, a highly efficient method of oocyte cryopreservation that offers high oocyte survival with high fertilisation and pregnancy rates. The selected oocytes are preserved in nitrogen at -196º without suffering any deterioration for as long as you wish.
How much does it cost to freeze my eggs?
The price for freezing eggs may vary depending on the number of cycles and the time they will be frozen, as they will require maintenance. The price includes preliminary tests, ovarian stimulation, ultrasound checks and visits to the clinic, follicular puncture, oocyte selection and cryopreservation.
