The prestigious scientific journal Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) has recently published a multicenter study on the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy in women with fertility issues undergoing In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments. This study, which analyzes the implementation and benefits of freezing all embryos during assisted reproduction cycles, includes our clinic among the centers in Spain that participated.
Tambre has played a key role in this study, actively participating in patient selection, data collection, and contributing to the project database. Dr. Esther Marbán, fertility specialist and head of the study at our clinic, has led this effort, ensuring that the data collected is of the highest quality and utility for research.
What does the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy consist of?
The ‘Freeze-All’ strategy involves freezing all embryos obtained after ovarian stimulation in an IVF cycle for later transfer in a subsequent cycle when the endometrium is in optimal condition. This technique has gained popularity in recent years, mainly due to its benefits in reducing the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and improving reproductive outcomes in certain groups of patients.
Objective of the study
The aim of the study was to analyze how the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy is implemented in clinical practice in Spain and to determine its main indications. It was conducted across 24 assisted reproduction centers, including both public and private institutions, and involved 1,034 women with subfertility and a clinical indication for IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Results obtained
The data revealed that the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy was used in 78.1% of cases. The main reasons for its application were the planning of pre-implantation genetic testing (61.7%) and the prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (24.2%). Additionally, the study showed that the pregnancy rate in patients who received a frozen embryo transfer was higher than in those who opted for a fresh transfer
This strategy has proven to be an effective option in assisted reproduction treatments, primarily used to optimize embryo conditions before transfer.
The study results indicate that frozen embryo transfer achieves higher success rates compared to fresh transfer, supporting its application in various clinical scenarios.
The cumulative clinical pregnancy rate increases with each attempt, reinforcing its role as a recommended approach to improving the chances of success in treatments.
Tambre’s implementation of the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy
The implementation of the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy at Tambre follows a rigorous protocol based on the use of advanced technology, such as cutting-edge vitrification, ensuring embryo survival rates of over 95%. Our team evaluates each case individually, ensuring that the embryo transfer is carried out at the optimal time to maximize the chances of success. Furthermore, our commitment to excellence has been recognized with awards for best practices in egg and embryo cryopreservation.
Benefits for patients
This study provides scientific evidence supporting the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy as a valuable tool for optimizing the results of assisted reproduction treatments. By avoiding embryo transfer in a hormonally altered environment after ovarian stimulation, implantation is favored in a more receptive endometrium, thus increasing the chances of success.
Additionally, this technique contributes to patient safety by reducing complications such as OHSS, which can be potentially serious in women with a high ovarian response.
Tambre’s participation
This work in which we have participated reinforces Tambre’s commitment to innovation and excellence in reproductive medicine, engaging in high-impact studies that allow for continuous improvement in fertility treatments and offer our patients the best available options.
The publication of this study in Reproductive BioMedicine Online highlights the importance of the ‘Freeze-All’ strategy in assisted reproduction and its implementation in clinical practice. The results confirm its efficacy and safety, positioning it as an increasingly recommended alternative for improving IVF success rates.
At Tambre, we are proud to have contributed to this important advancement and remain committed to the research and development of new strategies that help our patients fulfill their dream of starting a family.
